Testing Overview

Validating Thermal Solutions

When it comes down to the physics of heat transfer and theories on how different products perform under the different climatic conditions we put our line of SureTemp products to the test. We believe that knowledge is king and when we speak to our customers about the physics of heat transfer and how it affects their quality of wine during transportation we are able to speak knowledgeably as an industry expert.

We only concern ourselves with facts, we’re educated about the physics of heat transfer and we put our scientific theories to the test. When we talk to our customers they know we’ve done our due diligence because we don’t leave any stone unturned. We test, we test, and we test until we know we can speak confidently and factually about our products performance when insulating our customer’s valuable wine.

Controlled Chamber Testing

Simulating The Elements

Our most accurate test type is controlled chamber testing. This test model is more expensive, but give us the most precise results and allow us to run several trials with the same controlled variables. Our in house testing chamber allows us to simulate harsh conditions in a controlled environment, and also has the capability to simulate IR radiation for loads up to 2 pallets. For full truck load tests, we utilize our partnership with Texas AM and conduct tests in their 75’ x 22’ chamber, which has the same capabilities as our in house chamber, but is large enough to fit a full 53’ over the road trailer inside.

Custom Equipment

Our Custom Monitor System

We’ve also developed our own proprietary monitoring system that logs and displays in real time up to 330 temperatures from submersed monitors in pallets of 750ml bottles of water. Using this advanced temperature monitoring system with TTI’s full trailer test chamber, we can conduct summer and winter testing for a variety of different shipping scenarios.

FEA Computer Simulation

Thermal Finite Element Analysis

When developing a brand new product concept, it is sometimes beneficial to use finite element analysis (FEA) rather than going through the process of developing a product that may not perform as anticipated. Thermal FEA solutions are relatively straightforward to set up, however obtaining the required accuracy can be challenging. Using complex computer software to analyze equations for solving linear solid mechanics problems, we can derive information on how certain materials react to various thermal conditions. Once we have a computer generated concept of how the product might perform in real life, we begin further development of the product and prepare for other modes of testing.

Live Load

Testing Real World Conditions

Live load testing is our most economical and common test type. It is the preferred method used to yield real world results. Over the years we have developed a number of specialized protocols and implemented them in the most harsh real world conditions to ensure the validity of the thermal properties of our products. Highly accurate monitoring systems can be strategically placed throughout the testing load to gather temperature data throughout the journey of the shipment, and afterwards translated into easy to understand graphs. The performance of live load tests delivers invaluable information and can demonstrate whether or not a product solution can or cannot work for a particular product’s needs.
